From the outside the home feels charming and inviting — but step into the entry and the space opens up to the peak of the A-frame, showcasing full timber construction wrapped around a massive central stone fireplace. After a 10-year run as a private home, Kokanee Lodge is available once again for short-term stays.
Furnished with an eclectic blend of antique and newer pieces — warm, lived-in, modern comfort. Central heat & air conditioning year-round. Starlink Wi-Fi info provided at check-in if you choose to stay connected.

The setting
A 3-minute walk to the lake
Located in Peninsula Village on Peninsula Drive, just outside the lower country club gate — roughly 300 feet (3-minute walk) to Lake Almanor. HOA-managed lakefront and lawn access. Boat slip runs April through October.
Launch the boat at Big Cove or Knotty Pine. Lassen Volcanic National Park sits 37.8 miles north — easy to fold into a Lake Almanor week. Highlands Ranch Resort (28.7 miles) is the go-to for views and outdoor dining.
The driveway connects three separate chalets — Kokanee Lodge plus Lassen and Plumas (Chalets A & B). Groups stay close enough to share meals, far enough to keep the toddlers from waking the grandparents.
Things to know before you arrive
House rules & notes
Check-out 11:00 AM
- Trash: located up the stairs to the left of the carport.
- Boat launch: use Big Cove or Knotty Pine ramps.
- Winter: no snow removal provided for winter guests.
- Security: Ring doorbell at the front door, motion lights and camera mounted on the carport. Exterior cameras on property only.
- Stairs: the curved staircase wraps around the fireplace — please take care with children or anyone with mobility challenges.
- Firepit safety: keep the spark arrestor attached at all times. Supervise children.
- Gas BBQ: please turn off the propane after each use and wipe down so it stays in great condition.
- Streaming: Roku TVs are ready — bring your own Netflix / Disney+ / Hulu logins.
- “Office” closet: labeled as an office but it’s a locked owner’s closet.
- Cleaning cabinet: one locked cabinet in the downstairs bath is used by cleaners during transitions.
- Side yard / smoking guests: the “secret garden” side yard is a quiet spot some guests use — please dispose of trash and cigarette butts properly before checkout.
- Cookware: let us know if anything needs replacing — we appreciate it.

Linens, towels, soap, paper goods, and kitchen basics are stocked. These are the small things guests sometimes wish they’d packed.

- Layers — evenings cool down even in summer

A note about our natural setting
Mountain & lake, all the way
Kokanee Lodge sits in a rural mountain area with the lake about 300 feet away. With that comes nature up close — and that’s part of the trip.
During your stay you may see or encounter local wildlife: deer, raccoons, birds, bees, wasps, mosquitoes, spiders, ants. The peninsula is also home to a neighborhood bear who isn’t known to bother people but does enjoy investigating unsecured garbage cans.
These encounters are part of the charm of staying in a natural setting — and also part of life in the mountains. We’re unable to control wildlife or the natural environment, so we can’t offer refunds for wildlife-related experiences during your stay.
